When you want to bring a post back up to the front page, it is called a "bump" in English ( Bring Up My Post). English can be pretty funny. It seems kind of simplified at times, until you find all of the homonyms, homophones, and homographs that make certain phrases hard to read. Like how you can polish your Polish furniture. Paint a plane plain white. Sow a sweater for a sow. Perform an amazing feat with your feet. Project an image for your project. They're throwing their stuff through there, etc. You know, I have been considering the possibility of everyone here being incapable of understanding me if I spoke in an exteremely complex or eloquent manner. Well, is my vocabulary too expansive for you to understand with the utmost clarity? ...Okay, that wasn't a good example, but I don't feel like raping a thesaurus just for this joke... |

| J'espère >> I would like to (but it's more like ''je voudrais''). I like my English teacher! He's very fun and he speaks very well. In primary school, I just have teachers who's teach anything! It was very bad... And bescause this, I'm not very good in English... ): |

| I've always thought of "J'espère" more like "I hope"... There are only two French teachers in my school, since by High School pretty much everybody hates French for no reason. I say it's their own fault if they're having problems, since they don't even try. I always try to speak French when in class, and I tell them that it gets a lot easier if they start to immerse themselves in the language instead of blurting out two word replies when the teacher calls on you and going right back to talking to your friends in English... It really does get easier if you start listening to everything the teacher says, talking to others in French, trying to think in French... But everybody ignores me. Oh, and apparently over the summer, the majority of the class forgot that "aller" is conjugated with être in the past tense, so when we were talking about our summer, I heard a lot of "J'ai allé" and "J'ai allée". The teacher even pointed it out afterwards. |

The thing that gets me with French is that everything has a gender, and that the gender of a noun affects all of the adjectives and such that apply to it... I sometimes forget if a word is masculine or feminine, or to add extra 'e's accordingly... Your English is pretty good. The only thing I would change would be "a French" and "an English" to "French-speakers" and "English-speakers". Although you are French, you are not a French. |

Although you are French, you are not a French. | Thank you too. ^^ Just like you, I try to learn English beside school, watching American series in VOSTFR, going on English websites,... I can just imagine how difficult it could be for you to learn each word's genders. You've got not even a clue to guess if it is masculine or feminine... I have compassion on you.

Plume de Faucon, can you correct me please ? because I try to improve my english very much, and the best experience for that is to speak with a person who speaks it as their native language There, I've thrown in a few corrections. We must seem funny to you... x) I remember my teacher made us do a little test online where we had to guess a a bunch of words' genders. I nearly failed... It certainly is difficult, but thankfully, since I can't do accents otherwise, I type all of my posts in Word Perfect, and it points out whenever I use the wrong gender. I'm getting better. Also, "I have compassion on you" isn't right. I'm thinking more like "I feel for you" or "I feel sorry of you". I've seen lots of tiny mistakes here, but nothing laugh-worthy yet... Leopardshadow's occasional, erm... "colourful" vocabulary amuses me sometimes. It just makes sense to me that he would go and learn... certain words. |
