| The brevet in the English speaking world is the closest to a British test called the GSCE according to what I've read. As far as I know, there are none like it in either Canada or the United States. It partly reminds me of the concept here in my state, though.

I sleep in ALL lessons. x) The teachers always stress us about the brevet, but when I took it, it was very, very simple. (YES, I passed the brevet with "mention" Very Good. NO, I'm not lying, I'm twelve and I passed the brevet. You can test me." |

No need for the "I have"; it would be just "I'm too lazy." I find it interesting that in French you have stuff like hunger or thirst, as opposed to just being hungry or thirsty. - Plume de Joie a écrit:

| Plume de Faucon is American, he speaks English natively. He’s pretty good at French too, although it’s an awfully complicated language. As far as I am concerned, my English level has improved a lot since I started reading La guerre des Clans in English. I hope I’ll get even better when I read Inheritance. It’s going to be far more difficult than Warriors. Laziness is cruel, Hawkfrost, I’ll answer your PM as soon as I’ve overcome it. |

Canadian, actually. It's mandatory to take French until Grade 9 here, so that's why it's what I chose for my second language. I really liked the idea of being able to speak another language, so I decided to stay with it even longer. And although I agree that there are some pretty complicated rules in French grammar, I actually was given the impression that English was the more bizarre and illogical language. I've never actually had to study the language itself, but this is just what I've heard. I've even seen a list of English phrases that are confusing even for native speakers. The only one I can remember off the top of my head is "We need to polish the Polish furniture." - Souffle de Lune a écrit:

No rush. I'd be a hypocrite if I got upset with people for taking their time. - Rivière de Sable a écrit:

Hawkfrost -> Since how long are you speaking french ? Thanks! Well, my first French class would be when I was about nine, but I barely consider that to be when I started "speaking French" because back then pretty much all we learned was "Comment ça va?" - "Ça va bien." and "Qu'est-ce que c'est?" - "C'est un chat." It took us four years to even learn the past tense. I think I only really became confident in my ability to have a conversation about three years ago. So, nine years in total of taking French in school, but not all of it that useful. |

| I had my first lesson English in september. But I read LGDC in Englis. But I can't speak. ;P It's a little paradoxal. I'm very bad. But I can say "Who are you" and "How are you". My english teacher is sadistic and he has a very strange song to tell the difference between how and who. And I can say "I'm fourteen." But sometimes we say "I'm fourthy" and he's very surprised.
J'espère que vous avez compris tout ce que je disais u_u |

It's actually kind of warm today. It's somewhere in the 20s. - Reflets de Lune a écrit:

It's a little paradoxal. I'm very bad. Well, I guess that does kind of make sense... I mean, knowing what the word means doesn't necessarily mean you can pronounce it properly. Not to mention that with writing or reading you have time to think, but with speaking you have to be quick. Speaking of which, according to the voice recognition software my French class is using, I'm absolutely horrible at saying "arrêt" and "je vous remercie". - Reflet de Lune a écrit:

I'm not sure why there would need to be a song for that... Maybe I'm forgetting some special case, but their meanings aren't really similar enough to get mixed up... |

I HATE speaking, but writing is just so cool. And we learn the cardinals numbers. It's sadistic too. English lessons are sadistical. Really.
He asked if we could english speaking, but I answered that ... no. It's too dangerous. With him.
Thank you for reading me ! |

I hate speaking no matter what the language, including English! I tend to mix up words a lot. I say the wrong things at the wrong time to the wrong person. However, I am interested into the sounds of words and love trying to sound out words in different languages and dialects. My writing is great. I can express things much better in writing than in speech. One of my teachers noticed this and gave me an assignment saying "I know you love writing, so do this." |

Hmmm, I swear I've heard a song like that before. Just repeating that over and over again. I can't remember where, though... Ah, learning counting? Just remember that unlike in French, "sixty-ten", "four-twenty" and "four-twenty-ten" aren't actual numbers in English. Also, it's just "sadistic". No need for the "-al". - Poil de Moustache a écrit:
